Today on our online western civ class we had to write what the main differences were between Roman patricians and plebeians, and write what were the Greek versions of patricians and plebeians? To start, Roman patricians were the wealthy upper class people. They were the ruling class of the early Roman Empire. Only certain families were part of the patrician class and you had to be born a patricianEveryone else who wasn't patricians, was considered a plebeian. That brings me to the next thing, plebeians were considered the formal class. This group held its their own meetings, and elected its own officials and kept its own records. The term plebeian referred to all free Roman citizens who were not members of the patrician, senatorial or equestrian classes. That was all the research I did on patricians and plebeians. In my own words, I believe that the main difference between these two is that the patricians were the more wealthy group and the plebeians were the less wealthy.

My essay question would be, who were Alexander and Bucephalus? What was important about their relationship? In my first paragraph I would explain who Alexander was and what he did. I would explain what he was the king of and what dynasties he was a part of. In my second paragraph I would explain who Bucephalus was. I would explain everything that happened to Bucephalus. Last, I would explain Alexander and Bucephalus relationship. I would explain what Alexander did did after Bucephalus died. I would also explain how Alexander got very defensive and made threats when Bucephalus got taken.

Today on our online western civ class we had to watch a video called “Plato’s Best (and Worst) Ideas." Then we had to answer the following questions;
1) How did Plato define The Forms?
Plato defined The Forms as the ideal concept of the things we see around us. He thought that the forms were really important, he describe them as "perfect forms." They act as a guid for the modern world. He believes philosophers should study them.
2) Who are the three groups in Plato’s ideal society?
In Platos society the three groups are military, producers, and rulers. He created a noble lie to make everybody follow these three groups.
3) What were Plato’s thoughts on women?
Plato believed that women should be able too rule. Plato was very "inconsistent" with women. 4) What was the Noble Lie that Plato proposed?
Plato's Noble lie was created so everyone would follow his three groups of military, rulers, and producers. With everybody following his rules, it would be the "ideal society." When born everyone is born with either gold, brass, silver, or iron which determined your role in life.

Today on our online western civ class we had to post two images of classical Greek architecture. Then, describe each building we chose.
Temple of Artemis
The first classical Greek architecture I chose was the Temple of Artemis. It was a Greek temple dedicated to an ancient, local form of the goddess Artemis. The Temple was located in Ephesus. It was built in the 6th century BCE. The Temple was destroyed by a deliberate fire in the 4th century BCE and then rebuilt. Today only the foundations and a solitary column stand as a reminder of the site.
The Temple of Apollo at Didyma - Ancient History Encyclopedia
The second classical Greek architecture I chose was the Temple of Apollo. Apollo was the god of music, harmony, and light. The temple of Apollo was first built around the 7th c. B.C. by the two architects, Trophonios and Agamedes. It was rebuilt after a fire in the 6th c. B.C. It was named the Temple of Alcmeonidae in tribute to the noble Athenian family that oversaw its construction with funds. The temple was destroyed in 373 B.C. by an earthquake. It was rebuilt for the third time in 330 B.C.

Western Civ Blog 37

Today in our online western civ class we read page 136 in the textbook and answered these question; Describe the kinds of dramas that were performed in the theaters of ancient Greece. Describe the similarities between an ancient Greek production and a film you have seen recently. The Greek production – and the film – can be either a comedy or a tragedy. Find an online image of a theater from ancient Greece, post it to your blog, and describe it in a few sentences. There were 2 kinds of dramas that were performed in the theaters of Ancient Greece. The kinds were comedy and tragedy. The comedies were filled with slapstick situations and were meant to make the audience laugh.  They contained lots of crude humor and usually made fun of the politics and respected people. Tragedy dramas often contained a main character. The main character could be a tragic hero. They were serious dramas that focused on love, hate, war, or betrayal. I have been watching movies a lot lately, and a lot of them have been tragedies. Most of them are about love and betrayal. The tragedy dramas in ancient Greece also focused on those things For example I recently watched the Titanic. The theater was an outdoor arena. It had lot's of seating around the circular stage. This is where all the plays were performed, and they were often underground.
