Western Civ Blog 37

Today in our online western civ class we read page 136 in the textbook and answered these question; Describe the kinds of dramas that were performed in the theaters of ancient Greece. Describe the similarities between an ancient Greek production and a film you have seen recently. The Greek production – and the film – can be either a comedy or a tragedy. Find an online image of a theater from ancient Greece, post it to your blog, and describe it in a few sentences. There were 2 kinds of dramas that were performed in the theaters of Ancient Greece. The kinds were comedy and tragedy. The comedies were filled with slapstick situations and were meant to make the audience laugh.  They contained lots of crude humor and usually made fun of the politics and respected people. Tragedy dramas often contained a main character. The main character could be a tragic hero. They were serious dramas that focused on love, hate, war, or betrayal. I have been watching movies a lot lately, and a lot of them have been tragedies. Most of them are about love and betrayal. The tragedy dramas in ancient Greece also focused on those things For example I recently watched the Titanic. The theater was an outdoor arena. It had lot's of seating around the circular stage. This is where all the plays were performed, and they were often underground.
